Remove knock sensor from engine. Mount knock sensor in jaws of bench vise. Connect voltmeter between knock sensor connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See Figure. Using hammer, sharply rap on bench vise and check for voltage spike (less than one volt). If no voltage spike is observed, replace knock sensor.
